This 10-night tour gives you the opportunity to experience Northern Vietnam’s treasure trove of cultural and natural wonders, together with the Southern island of Phu Quoc. Dive into the history and culture of Hanoi, Northern Vietnam’s 1000-year-old capital before journeying through the peaceful villages and majestic scenery of Sapa, gaining a deep insight into the region’s diverse ethnic groups. Sail through the emerald-green waters of Halong Bay, exploring its mystical sea-caves, and finish off with a 4-day trip to uncover Vietnam’s best-kept secret: Phu Quoc, an unspoilt island home to 20 paradisiacal beaches and a protected biosphere reserve!

Your Vietnamese adventure begins! Your driver and guide will welcome you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel in downtown Hanoi. Later in the afternoon you’ll explore Hanoi’s Old Quarter by cyclo (Vietnamese rickshaw), and finish of the evening with a welcome dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. After dinner, you’ll board an overnight train at 21.00 for an exciting trip to Lao Cai.
Upon arrival in Lao Cai, you will transfer to the former French hill resort of Sapa, where you’ll enjoy a delicious breakfast at a local restaurant. You’ll then embark on a morning trekking tour of Sapa, visiting the villages of Lao Chai, Ta Van, and Giang Ta chai. After a picnic lunch, you’ll visit a busy market frequented by the region’s many different ethnic groups. Enjoy the exploding colours of hand-made textiles and the rich aromas of local street food.
Trek up to Ham Rong Mountain and enjoy a unique dance performance by the region’s ethnic minorities. After lunch at a local restaurant, you’ll visit Cat Cat village, home to the Dao people, as well as some nearby tribe villages in the hills. Your guide will take you to the spectacular Halong Bay, where you’ll cruise through the poetic landscape on a traditional Junk (sailing ship). Throughout the day you’ll explore the array of naturally formed islets and caves scattered across the seascape. In the evening, you’ll be served a fresh seafood dinner on the moonlit bay, with the option of either sleeping onboard overnight or staying at a hotel.
Wake up early to view the sunrise over the bay, and then visit the recently-discovered Surprise Grotto, as well as the yawning mouth of Bo Nau Cave. Cruise along to Bai Tu Long bay and enjoy another wonderful seafood lunch, before being transferred back to Hanoi. After some free time in the afternoon, you’ll dine at a local Hanoiese restaurant.
